Gorlo Canyon
A marble canyon about 100 metres long, cut by the Arda river, seen by boat between vertical cliffs over dark, still green water. Visited on the day tours.
Gorlo Canyon is a short marble canyon, about 100 metres long, carved by the Arda river through vertical marble cliffs some 17 km downstream of the river's source. It narrows to just over two metres between the walls, where the water reaches a depth of more than four and a half metres. You cross it by boat, gliding over dark green, almost still water.
The boat ride lasts 10 to 15 minutes, with life jackets and a guide's commentary provided; children under seven travel free. The canyon is the closing highlight of the one-day programs from Mogilitsa, paired with the Nadarska Cave and either Rufinka's grave or the Kiselchovo waterfalls.
The boat crossing is 6 euro per person and is included in the guided day tours. See the Day Tours for dates and what else is covered.
